sweet, sweet gift

We just got back from going out to dinner and I had a package sitting on my front porch.

What could it be? I hadn’t ordered anything.

Then I saw it was from my Mom’s best friend Kathy whom I have connected with lately through email and facebook.

She is a very busy lady but also finds time to be a  crafty, creative woman too.

Look what she made for the Shasta!!

pure.love.

I’m still grinning.

Thank you so much Dear Sweet Kathy!

Hello!

I’ve been working on some patriotic stitchies for summer.  Isn’t handwork the best?  I’ve been stitching away while watching Mad Men with The BG.

I know we are always 5 years behind on television fads!  But really it’s the best way to watch…you have no commercials and no waiting!

I love the late 50′s/60′s sets and costumes, but JEEEESSSSH am I happy that men aren’t allowed to go around talking to us that way in the workplace anymore.

Crazy.

Here’s what I’ve gotten done. The “freedom” is a Stacy Nash I ordered from pattern mart.  And the eagle was a freebie download. I’m going to add  a word on the side ..maybe Liberty??

I had a very Ouchie moment yesterday while working on the camper cushions.

I sewed right through my finger!

I was trying to turn the corner with all those layers of fabric and piping and such,  pushing, pushing and BAM my finger went right under the needle.

Of course your first reaction is to pull your hand away, and when I did  I broke the needle. Talk about hurt!! Yikes.

Thank goodness I only have one more cushion to go today!

Shasta compact update

The BG is coming along on replacing the water damaged wood in the camper.

AS SOON as he is done I am going to paint the interior a fresh coat of white, we’ll install a new floor, and then the sewing of the curtains and cushions shall commence.

We’ve pretty much decided on painting the exterior red on the bottom, white on the top, with the signature Shasta Z stripe being silver.

Here’s the cushion fabric I ordered.  I picked it up last night.

While shopping around I have been keeping my eye out for camper goodies!

I found a cute red polka dot rug at walmart,  some awesome melamine dishes at target,  and some adorable vintage pillow cases while antiquing with Mom.

I think I have decided to use my Darla fabric for the curtains??

It’s so fun! =)

A Day For Mothers

Happy Happy Day to Mothers everywhere!

To my Mom:

I love you Mom, big as the sky.

And to my Mother-in-law:

Thank you for always chasing down your baby son when he would wander off FAR from home, and for raising a beautiful man for me to marry.

Spring in Bloom

I took a walk around our block today and snapped some pictures of nature’s glory.

It was all I needed to remind me of

why I love Michigan in the spring time

why I am thankful to God to be alive and for all his many blessings.

I am so thankful that I have two legs and two feet that work

eyes that can see

two adorable girls

an awesome husband

the best parents alive

and the cutest dog ever born.

I truly hope it’s beautiful where you are today too!

Weekend Binding Warriors!

Dad had a golf outing this weekend near our home so he dropped my awesome, adorable, sweet Mom off to spend the weekend with us.

She wanted to help me with bindings on a group of quilts that I just got back from the machine quilter.  The quilter had a special on all over patterns this past February and I decided to send her

7  quilts that were never going to get done.  With these out the door and 5 or 6 quilts tops I gave away I only have about 4/5  more tops in my tops box!!  That was one of my New Year Goals to get my tops box cleared out, so I am on my way to getting it done! Yipppeeeee =)

Mom’s (and Dad’s) are the best thing on the planet, don’t ya think?

We now have lots of extra quilt love for when we have guests and to put in the camper!

Signature quilt from our blog exchange. FINALLY done! =)

The Whimsicals quilt I just finished up in January.

A LONG ago shop sample I made for Quilt N Go…pattern is Strips and Bits.

Another long ago shop sample the pattern is from Thimble Blossoms, but I can’t remember the name.

This is another shop sample I made– free pattern by Amy Butler.   I didn’t get a very good pic of this one, it’s very sweet and sassy in person, definitely a camper quilt.

I made this one for one of the girl’s beds a couple years ago! LOL Finally it’s quilted and bound.  pattern–Split Decision.

hmmmm….pattern–Jelly Sandwhich

I don’t want to do another binding for awhile and I’m sure Mom doesn’t either!

Easter and a new baby (the kind with wheels)

We had a perfect Easter this year.  What a lovely, lovely weekend we shared with family.

Coloring eggs,  the Big Easter Egg hunt, making bunny necklaces, eating GREAT food, and having our own church service at Mom and Dad’s house in the morning.

The weather was beautiful (for Michigan lol) and the company amazing. We couldn’t have asked for a better time.

And to top it all off….we did it!  I got my sweet little vintage 1961 Shasta delivered this morning!!!!!!!!

I am thrilled beyond words.  Can’t wait to start fixing her up and spend hours and hours playing and camping in her! =)

I’ll post pictures as we fix her up, but here is the first before shot of her sitting in my driveway!

later gators!
